ABOUT OUR ELECTRONIC MUSIC COMPOSITION LESSONS
Individual electronic music composition lessons are available for children, teens and adults. Electronic music composition instruction is offered as a weekly 30, 45, or 60 minute private lesson. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced lessons are available in a variety of different styles. Whatever style of electronic music you want to learn and create, our teachers are here to help you and customize a lesson plan for you.
WHAT ARE ELECTRONIC MUSIC COMPOSITION LESSONS?
In electronic music composition lessons students create and compose music using computer software. Our teachers can help you learn quickly and get started making music right away.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT OUT OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC COMPOSITION LESSONS?
Similar to other instrument study, you will learn elements of music, such as form, structure, melody, harmony, rhythm, texture, and how to combine them to make your own music. You will become familiar how to use music composition software and start creating your own music from the first lesson!
HOW ARE ELECTRONIC MUSIC COMPOSITION LESSONS DIFFERENT THAN MUSIC PRODUCTION?
Music production involves the recording of live instruments and then sound manipulation on a computer and mixing board. We are not a recording studio for professional music production. Our electronic music composition lessons focus on creating music using the computer as your instrument and composing using music technology.
WHAT DO I NEED FOR ELECTRONIC MUSIC COMPOSITION LESSONS?
You will need a computer, laptop or tablet that can run music composition software.
You will need music composition software, called a digital audio workstation (DAW) such as Garageband (Mac), Logic Pro (Mac), Pro Tools (Mac and PC), Abelton (Mac and PC), Soundtrap (Open Source), Soundation (Open Source), FL Studio (Mac, PC or iOS). There are free versions and educational discounts of software for students. If you don’t already have software, you can talk with your teacher about the best program for you.
Other helpful, but not required equipment are a USB mic, a single-channel mic interface and headphones.
You will need to bring your instrument (i.e. computer / laptop / tablet) to your in-person lesson, or you can easily share a screen for online lessons.
WILL I BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN RECITALS?
Yes! We love to celebrate students and their musical achievements, and that includes composition students. Please talk with your teacher about options for you to share your music.
