Penelope T.
1. How long have you taken music lessons?
15 months
2. What instrument(s) do you play?
I play the violin.
3. Who are your favorite musical artists?
I listen to a variety of music, including Sheppard, Pink, and Walk The Moon. To learn more about violin, I listen to Hilary Hahn and others.
4. What are your short and long term goals with music?
I'd like to understand how to read music better, and I'd like to get good enough to join an orchestra like GTCYS. One day I'd like to play music from Harry Potter!
5. What is your favorite part about taking music lessons?
Seeing my improvement. I can read music now! I enjoy getting to know my teachers better too.
6. What are your hobbies?
I read a lot! I play soccer in the summer and ski in the winter. And my favorite thing ever is to be at camp!
7. What are some of your favorite foods?
My Dad makes really good Swedish meatballs. I love grilled cheese and tomato soup. For special occasions we have Crab BLTs.
8. What is the coolest thing you've learned in your lessons recently?
Learning how to read music.
9. Do you have any performances coming up or have you had a performance recently?
I play at all the virtual recitals since I've joined. I will plan to play in the spring celebration!
10. Why should other people play music?
Because it's fun, and it wakes up every part of your brain.

Penelope is such a dedicated student.
We’ve started to listen to recordings in her lessons of violinists, orchestras, small ensembles, etc. and have enjoyed exploring these different sounds together!
Penelope has been working hard on note-reading and using her ear to tune her instrument.
