Student Spotlight:
Mattea V.
1. How long have you taken music lessons?
I have played for 1 year and a half
2. What instrument(s) do you play?
I play guitar
3. Who are your favorite musical artists?
I really like Taylor Swift, broadway musicals, and worship music.
4. What are your short and long term goals with music?
The main reason that I want to learn to play guitar is because it provides calm and peace and joy amidst my anxiety. I struggle a lot with my anxiety and when I play guitar it makes it feel like it is gone while I play. I come in to guitar lessons with anxiety and as soon as I start playing it all melts away.
5. What is your favorite part about taking music lessons?
My favorite part of music lessons is how I go in not knowing how to do a song and I go out amazed that I DID do it. (Also Shane is an awesome teacher!)
6. What are your hobbies?
My hobbies are talking and playing with my friends, playing with my twin brother, reading classic books, Harry Potter, and just about anything I can get my hands on!
7. What are some of your favorite foods?
My favorite foods are hamburgers or pasta.
8. What is the coolest thing you've learned in your lessons recently?
The coolest thing I learned lately is learning strumming patterns.
9. Do you have any performances coming up or have you had a performance recently?
I have my first Brighter Minds performance at the winter recital coming up on January 29th.
10. Why should other people play music?
To me music is one of the most important things in the world. Music can make you feel so many emotions: sad, happy, joyful, and there are so many kinds of music. Music can bring people up when they are down and it can comfort people. I think that it is important to play music for other people not for the praise but for the joy it brings others.
She is always coming in with a big smile on her face. She brings all of her passion and positivity to not only her instrument, but to life in general!
